Point Bonita Lighthouse Tour

point bonita lighthouse hi marin headlands hostel

The Point Bonita Lighthouse is one of the Bay Area’s best kept secrets sitting pretty on a scenic overlook near Battery Wallace in the Marin Headlands. Every Saturday, Sunday and Monday, visitors can meet docents along the lighthouse trail for a guided tour of the beautiful and historic setting, used as a point to guide ships into the Golden Gate through the perilous waters of the Pacific. The half-mile trail goes through a tunnel and over a bridge to get to the lighthouse, and along the way, docents will share stories of what life was like manning this important station.

The tunnel to the lighthouse is only open from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on these three days, and you can take a self-guided tour during these hours as well.
