Three California hostels are among the Top 10 customer-rated in the world

The Point Reyes Hostel was the 2nd highest customer-rated hostel in the world in 2009, among more than 4,000 Hostelling International hostels in 80 countries. The Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel placed #5, and the Pigeon Point Lighthouse Hostel placed #7.

Two other U.S. hostels — HI-Eastham and HI-Nantucket, both on Cape Cod in Massachusetts — also made the Top 10.

The rankings are based on millions of customer reviews submitted to the international website hihostels.com. Guests rate their stays in six categories: friendliness of staff, efficiency of service, comfort, cleanliness, security, and location.
