The Marin Headlands Hostel is located 4 miles northwest of the Golden Gate Bridge in a National Park.

Guests should check-in at Fort Barry Building 941, near the Headlands Center for the Arts.

Please Note:

1) The hostel's address does not work accurately with most navigation systems, including Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, or in-car GPS. To get accurate directions from Google Maps, go to this Google Map and click on "Get Directions." If using an in-car GPS, enter the hostel's GPS coordinates (above).

2) There is currently a two-year road construction project underway in the Marin Headlands. For the latest information, visit Project Headlands, where you can also sign up to receive email updates.

3) There are no stores or restaurants within the Marin Headlands. The nearest shopping and dining options are 5 miles away, in the town of Sausalito, so you may want to stock up on groceries before arriving at the hostel.

By car

From the South
Take 101 North over the Golden Gate Bridge and exit on Alexander Avenue. Stay to the right as you exit and then drive a short distance to the first road (the road is not clearly marked, but it is called Bunker Road). Take a left onto Bunker Road until you come to a one-way tunnel. Drive through when prompted and then follow the directions under "From the Tunnel" below.

From the North
Take 101 South to the second exit for Sausalito (this is the final exit before you hit the Golden Gate Bridge). As you come off the exit, take a right toward Sausalito and then take the first left you encounter. At the one-way tunnel, drive through when prompted and then follow the directions under "From the Tunnel" below.

From the Tunnel
When you are out of the tunnel drive 2 miles west into the Headlands. At the fork in the road (Field Road), take a left and then follow the signs to the hostel. (Note: Don't be confused by the sign just before the fork in the road; it's just indicating that the beach is to the right and everything else is to the left).

By public transportation
