Hostel guests are accommodated in both shared and private rooms, in two historic buildings -- the Main House and the Annex -- built in 1907 in what was then Fort Barry.
Each of the hostel buildings has a fully equipped kitchen and dining room where groups can prepare and enjoy meals. For outdoor dining, opt for the shaded patio with picnic tables and barbecue, or a picnic in the surrounding park.
Groups may choose to bring groceries to prepare themselves, or arrange for our group catering service. Outside caterers are also welcome.
The hostel is in a National Park, so the nearest grocery stores or restaurants are five miles away, in Sausalito or San Francisco.
The hostel has a meeting room which seats 15-20 and has a TV, DVD player, whiteboard, chalkboard.
Meeting room rentals should be arranged in advance, at the same time that you reserve your group's overnight accommodations.
For private events, groups may arrange for exclusive use of either the Main House or the Annex.

Enhance your trip with a guided night hike, led by a professional Naturalist! Watch the sunset with 360-degree views of the Marin Headlands and the coast, then venture without flashlights through twilight and darkness, relying on other senses to experience the world around you. Smell the eucalyptus and the salt air, and listen to the frogs chirping, seals barking, and waves breaking on the beach. You'll encounter nocturnal animals and, depending on time of year, you may see bio-luminescent marine life or a full moon. Your Naturalist can tailor your hike to your interests, providing interpretive information about stars, plants, wildlife, and habitat, and leading sensory-awareness exercises.
Night hikes are two hours long, and are available nightly from 4 p.m. – 10 p.m. Cost is $8 per person. Hikes must be arranged in advance, at the same time that you reserve your group's overnight accommodations.
Tailored programming is available to youth and student groups, from outdoor wilderness adventures to intercultural activities like World Travel 101, Cultural Kitchen, the Community Walls mural project, and Girl Scouts badge work.
