Join the Winter Walking/Music Tour at the Marin Headlands Hostel (Feb. 8)
Posted by admin on Jan 30, 2009

No tour-van necessary for these three adventurous San Francisco folk bands! They’re strapping their fiddles, guitars, cello, camping gear, and CDs onto their backs, and walking down the California Coastal Trail from show to show — starting at the Bolinas Community Center, then performing at Slide Ranch in Muir Beach, and ending with a final concert at the Marin Headlands Hostel.
Everyone is invited to walk along! Join the roving caravan on an "eco-pilgrimage" away from paradigms of convenient and consumable music, and towards music that is local, sustainable, wild, and free.
Not up to the hike, but want to catch the show? Head to the Marin Headlands Hostel on Sunday, February 8, for the final performance of this weekend walking tour. Bands Shake Your Peace, Sonya Cotton Band, and StitchCraft will strike up a concert of beautiful acoustic tunes for their fellow pilgrims, hostel guests, and the general public.
Artist Reception
This event will be preceded by a reception for painter Brian Wallace, whose work will be exhibited at the hostel through mid-March. Brian makes a living as a global music explorer, and has performed in South America, the South Pacific, Europe, the Caribbean, North Africa, West Africa, and Nepal. The hostel will exhibit Brian’s collages which incorporate prints on handmade paper of his colorful brush paintings of friends and scenes from his travels. Brian is a third generation Northern California artist whose work includes a two-story, block-long mural along Interstate 580 in Richmond, and a multi-generational family art exhibit in the Presidio.
