The Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel loves groups! In
addition to affordable overnight accommodations and meeting/event space perched
above the Pacific, we offer trip-planning assistance to ensure you can make the
most of your trip. Let us help you develop an itinerary that includes both the
natural rugged beauty of the coast, and the quaint historic charm of nearby
towns.
The hostel is perfect for meetings and workshops, and we host many business and nonprofit organizations, as well as artists on retreat. The hostel has comfortable, flexible meeting spaces and plenty of outdoor options to tailor the perfect getaway for your company or organization.
Academic and sports groups from elementary school through college are welcome at the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel, and we can help you design an itinerary that’s both educational and fun.
The hostel is also a longtime favorite location for spiritual and religious groups, and many others seeking majestic natural beauty and a warm, peaceful environment for inner reflection.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts are also frequent visitors at the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel. Scouting and hostelling have a long history of mutual support. They are similar in their mission to foster experiential learning and exploration of the world, leading to personal growth and ultimately a more informed citizenry. Girl Scouts even have a hostelling badge to work toward during their trip!
The hostel provides both shared and private rooms in historic lighthouse keepers’ quarters, perched on a bluff above the Pacific.
Groups of all sizes from 7 to 50 can be accommodated overnight.
The hostel has three rooms available for meetings, workshops, or special events, including the historic fog signal building. For outdoor events, groups can take advantage of the secluded cove-beach, native plant gardens, or oceanside areas with picnic tables and barbecue.
Maximum capacity for an indoor/outdoor daytime function is 100.
Some equipment is available, including a projection screen, television, and VCR.
Guests can bring their own groceries to prepare themselves, or hire a caterer. In addition, there are a few local restaurants and grocery markets within a mile to the north and south of the hostel, and the town of Half Moon Bay, 7 miles away, has an array of good dining options.
The hostel has two fully equipped kitchens and two dining rooms. For outdoor dining, an oceanside area with picnic tables and barbecue is available.
Also take advantage of the hostel’s espresso bar from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. daily.
