Head to the San Mateo coast for a seaside party at the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the hostelling movement and the 75th anniversary of Hostelling International USA.

Join us on Saturday, August 22, for an afternoon of live music, fine art, prize giveaways, refreshments, fun kids’ crafts, and more.

The festivities include a Lighthouse Art Show, featuring works by the students of Coastside art teacher, Mary Kay Jolley, and Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel general manager Christopher S. Bauman. See various artists’ takes on the iconic Point Montara and Pigeon Point lighthouses, as well as coastal landscapes and more. If your little ones are inspired by the art show, they can let their creativity loose at the craft table, featuring lighthouse/ocean-themed activities.

Listen to the toe-tapping sounds of the TBS Attic Band while you peruse the art or help your kids create their own. Featuring Ron Bean on the autoharp, Dave Sahn on guitar, and Raymond Tsang on the fiddle and mandolin, the TBS Attic Band performs traditional American old time and Irish folk music.

If you’ve never been to the Point Montara Lighthouse Hostel, this is a great opportunity to check out one of the most scenic hostels in Northern California. Take a guided tour of the hostel and learn what hostelling is all about, or, if you’re a regular, come see what’s new at your favorite hostel.

In addition to the prize giveaways at the event, partygoers can also enter to win an Anniversary Week Grand Prize Package, which includes:
