Raise your glass to Hostel Adventures at “Elixir for Education” (November 11)

Help us raise funds by raising your glass at our first-ever charity bartending event: Elixir for Education.

Join the Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International USA for a lively evening at Elixir, a "neighborhood saloon" located in San Francisco’s Mission District. Recently named one of the Top 100 Bars in the country by Food and Wine magazine’s Cocktails ‘09, Elixir is also proud to be a Certified Bay Area Green Business.

Golden Gate Council staffers Stuart Bousel, Lindsay Carver, Fernando Esterilla, Jay Hirsch, Nannette Mickle, and Jesse James Riscen will be mixing cocktails and pouring pints, so belly up and order your favorite drink from these special guest bartenders.

We’re hoping you’ll feel generous come tip time, as a portion of all gratuities will benefit our Hostel Adventure programs. In addition, $1 will be donated to Hostel Adventures for every Paulaner Hefe Weizen served.

Whatever your poison, the evening’s sure to be a spirited mix of conversation, cocktails, and charity, so pass the word and bring your friends!

About Hostel Adventures

Hostel Adventures are interactive, experiential education programs for youth that encourage the exploration of our natural environment, our local communities, and other cultures around the world.

We offer three types of programs for youth: Outdoor Hostel Adventures, which take kids out of the cities and into California’s beautiful State and National Parks; Cultural Kitchen, a fun and creative program that teaches youth about different cultures through the lens of cuisine; and the Community Walls mural project, in which youth explore their communities through art.

We strive to ensure that all youth can participate in our programs, and offer partial scholarships to groups who demonstrate financial need. Scholarship funds are made possible in part by individual donations, so fundraising events like Elixir for Education are essential!
