The Redwood National Park Hostel is located on Highway 101 at Wilson Creek Road, 12 miles south of Crescent City and 6 miles north of Klamath. The hostel is a green and tan historic building overlooking the majestic rocky coastline of the Pacific Ocean which connects to the Coastal Trail.
Please note that the hostel's street address does not seem
to work
with in-car GPS navigation systems; see above for exact GPS coordinates. Also, Mapquest does not direct
you to the correct location (but rather 0.9 miles south); we recommend
using Google maps instead.
From the South
We are approximately 340 miles north of San Francisco on Hwy. 101 North. The drive takes no less than 6 hours, with the average time approximately 7 hours. If you drive Hwy. 1 from San Francisco, it may take 10 or 11 hours.
From the Golden Bear Bridge over the Klamath River, drive 7 miles north on Hwy. 101. At Del Norte county mile marker 12.53, turn right onto Wilson Creek Road (at the south end of the DeMartin Memorial Bridge over Wilson Creek). Take an immediate right into the hostel driveway. The turn-off is 1.5 miles north of the Trees of Mystery.
From the North
We are approximately 350 miles south of Portland via Interstate I-5, Hwy. 199, then Hwy. 101 South; or via Hwy. 18 from the Portland area to Hwy. 101 South. The coastal route will be slower as there are winding parts and it passes through several towns.
From Crescent City, drive 12 miles south on Hwy. 101. At Del Norte county mile marker 12.53, turn left onto Wilson Creek Road (at the south end of the DeMartin Memorial Bridge over Wilson Creek). Take an immediate right into the hostel driveway. If you see the Trees of Mystery, you've gone too far.
From the South
The nearest Greyhound (long-distance bus) station is the
Arcata Transit Center in Arcata, California, approximately 60 miles south of

From the Arcata Transit Center, Redwood Coast Transit provides service to the hostel twice daily, Monday through Saturday. The trip takes about 90 minutes, and you'll need to tell the driver to drop you at Wilson Creek Road, as it is not a regular stop. Cost is $20 one-way or $30 for a 5-day pass that would allow you to make the return trip (as well as take additional trips during your stay, such as up to Crescent City). From the North
From Crescent City, Redwood Coast Transit provides
service to the hostel several times a day. Take Route 10 or Route 20 from
outside the Cultural Center (1001 Front Street). You’ll need to tell the driver
that you want to be dropped off at Wilson Creek Road, as it is not a regular

There is no direct rail service to the area, but if you take a train to the Amtrak stations in Martinez or Emeryville, California, there is Amtrak bus service to the Arcata Transit Center in Arcata, California, approximately 60 miles south of hostel. The Eureka/Arcata Airport is located 60 miles south of
