Call For Entries: Transitions Abroad Student Writing Contest

Application deadline: March 15, 2008

Are you a college student who has worked, studied, traveled long-term, and/or lived abroad? Want to share your experiences with other students who may be interested in working or studying internationally, and possibly win some cash to help fund your next trip (or start paying off those student loans)? Then the TransitionsAbroad.com annual student writing contest might just be your ticket to ride.

TransitionsAbroad.com is seeking nonfiction essays 1,000-3,000 words in length, that explore "the changes in perception and understanding, as well as in place, that result from cultural immersion travel." Works by students who are currently enrolled at the undergraduate or graduate level, as well as students who have graduated within the past year, and students currently on leave from school, are eligible.

The winning author will be awarded $500, the second place winner $150, and the third place winner $100. Runners-up will be awarded $50. All winning pieces will be published on the TransitionsAbroad.com website.

TransitionsAbroad.com is the website companion to Transitions Abroad magazine, the only publication dedicated to work, study, living, and cultural immersion travel abroad. Its goal over the past three decades has been to disseminate practical information leading to a greater understanding of other cultures through direct participation in the daily life of the host community.
